Stress is all around us, and it affects us in so many ways! Hans Seyle was an endocrinologist who researched the effects of stress and how it affects our endocrine system. He discovered that too much stress can lead to a pathological state, which means it can make us sick!
So what are the different types of stress? Well, it can be physical (such as exercise or having a sedentary job), chemical (from pollution, pesticides, or radiation) or emotional/spiritual (such as stress in relationships, fast-paced lifestyle, and spiritual health).
Many stressors in our modern society surround us, and it can often feel like it's too hard to keep up. We work too hard, don't exercise enough, and don't eat nutritious food. All these things can lead to illnesses like hypertension, cardiovascular disease, ulcers, and diabetes.
So what can we do to feel better in this fast-paced world? Well, the great news is our bodies are strong and resilient! Although stress can make us sick, these diseases are preventable. All we need to do is take better care of ourselves! We should exercise regularly, eat nutritious meals, and make sure that we take time out for ourselves. Doing that allows us to manage our stress and be our best selves!
