Protect Yourself From the Summer Sun

Updated: May 26, 2021

It's the time of year when we in Windsor and Essex County are out enjoying the warm summer sun. We're out and active - walking the Ganatchio Trail, biking on the Greenway, visiting one of our lovely beaches, gardening in our yards or wandering through a local farmer's market.

We are so lucky to have wonderful summer weather!

It's important to protect ourselves and family from harmful UV rays each and every time we're outdoors.

Here's an easy reminder: Slip, slop, slap!

Slip on some sunglasses - look for sunglasses that block 100 per cent of UV rays and that also absorb HEV rays. For your best option, consult an optician.

Slop on some sunscreen - be sure it's sweat and waterproof with at least an SPF rating appropriate to your skin type and expected exposure time.

Slap on a hat - hats will help protect your eyes, nose, ears and exposed areas of the scalp. The best options are wide-brimmed.

Get out and enjoy the outdoors while you can, just be certain you're protected!
